Dave Sheehan's Summer Flowers Hits #14 On Euro-Americana Chart!
(Here's the link to the chart): http://home.hetnet.nl/~noci48/
So far, the album has appeared on the radio in at least 10 countries,
with no fewer than 10 of the 14 tracks having been aired. It has
received very good press in the US and Europe, and was chosen as the
5th best album of 2006 by François (Swa) Braeken of Rootstime
(Belgium). And now it has made its chart debut, at #14, sandwiched
between Tom & Jerry (Tom Waits & Jerry Lee Lewis, that is--not the
cartoon cat & mouse duo!). Thanks to all of you for your interest and
support.
Woo Hoo!!

More Reviews of Summer Flowers, From Near And Far

More reviews of Dave Sheehan's Summer Flowers are trickling in and they continue to be very positive! Here are some selected quotes:

"...the honesty and sincerity of this disc's every track hits long before the cleverly turned lyrics and the bevy of instruments he uses...and even the short, sweet instrumental tracks anchor the cohesiveness of this recording...It's rare that an artist hits such a stride on his first release, recalling so many greats (John Prine, David Allen Coe, and even a little Bobby Bare, Jr.) while standing out and demanding another listen."
-Jesse Flores, Seattle Sound Magazine
http://www.seattlesoundmag.com/

"Sheehan shows strong songwriting talent with this upbeat, folksy collection of tunes backed up with some of Port Townsend's finest musical talent..."
-Kathie Meyer, Jefferson County This Week
http://ptleader.com/main.asp?Search=1&ArticleID=16734&SectionID=11&SubSectionID=11&S=1

"Crisp and clean thoughtful Americana..."
(Staff Top Ten Picks for 2006; Honourable Mention)
-Steve Arbuckle, Quimper Sound
http://www.quimpersound.com/reviews/revhome.html

Listed as the 5th best album of 2006
-François Braeken, Rootstime
http://home.tiscali-business.be/~tpm76025/cd%20reviews.htm

Listed in Recommeded Albums For 2006
-American Music Belgium
http://www.americanmusicbelgium.homestead.com/Recommendedalbums2006page5.html

Also, there are 4 Dutch-language reviews that I have only been able to roughly translate. I've got a team of translators working on them. If you'd like to join the team (or better yet, DRIVE the team!!), let me know!!

And don't forget Thursday night music at Bread & Roses, brought to you by Rainshadow Records and Pod Townsend (and of course, B & R themselves!).

Cheers,
Dave

Great Reviews From Europe!

Reviews of 'Summer Flowers' are beginning to appear, and so far they
are very positive!! Please read on:

The first review, from a publication in Belgium, still awaits
translation from Dutch to English (my translator is presently
demanding too much money for a flattering interpretation--I'm
kidding!). But I WAS able to see that the reviewer gave it 4 out of 5
stars! Of course, for all I know, the Dutch rating system is reversed:
Zero--you're a hero, and five stars gets you stoned to death. Still,
I'm confident that 4 is good. At the very least, I don't think I'll
be stoned to death...

The second comes from the UK (I haven't bothered to translate it into
'merican) and is quoted here:

"Easy vocals and slick instrumentation...combine with a winning
lyrical talent...he produces a honeyed blanket of countryesque folk
that harks back to numerous string driven combos such as The Nitty
Gritty Dirt Band and permutations of the Holy Modal Rounders/ Jeffrey
Fredericks jug band sound...Nice laid back set capturing that folky
American vibe...well worth checking out if you like that slightly
mysterious cloud swirled rain soaked sitting around the stove type
picking and singing."

- Paul Kerr, AmericanaUK
http://www.americana-uk.com/auk/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=2408
(click the above link to read the entire review)

More to come!
Dave
